In the last couple of months we have gathered a lot of feedback from the users. Accordingly, we decided to change our development plans. In version 8.1 we plan to also add:

1. Full handling of projects/orders, i.e. grouping of order elements.
2. Option to filter elements of orders and stocks by material groups.
3. Option to confirm recyclable waste before it becomes a full-fledged stock.

Then we will start working on version 8.2, which will include a new algorithm for nesting rectangles and the option to group elements for compatible post-cutting structure.

Version 8.3 will include the option to optimize any shapes and support for diagonal cuts in 1D optimization.

Only after adding all these functionalities will we move on to network operation and other licensing methods.

• Added a functionality for importing XLSX, XLS and ODS files directly in the program.

For the time being, we continue to sell TonCut 7. We also priced it down. This is because TonCut 7 theoretically allows sharing data between many TonCut instances. TonCut 8.0 in its current form, despite its many advantages, unfortunately lacks this functionality. This problem will be solved in version 8.1.

• A configuration wizard has been added. It adjusts the program settings to the needs of the user, industry and computer power. The wizard opens automatically when you start the program for the first time. It can also be opened manually in the optimization profiles window by pressing Restore defaults.
• Optimization acceleration. In some cases, optimization can be up to 50 times faster. In particular, it refers to optimization of 1D materials and 2D when there are many sheets optimized.
• Fixed error that could cause the program to crash on computers with more processor cores.
• Fixed error that resets IDs of added pieces and sheets.

To reduce the optimization time, change "Dynamic change method" option to lower value - we recommend setting its value according to the number of processor cores:

Direct2D method does not use Graphics32 so, texturing and text smoothing does not concern it. It won't change because of weak (read: slow) textures handling in Direct2D.

We are pleased to inform you about the new Paseczek version. The new version includes the following changes:

• Graphics stuff was rewritten to rely on Graphics32 library. Thanks to that we have now:
  • reduced CPU load,
  • properly looking pictures and icons with translucency,
  • optional texturing of texts, thanks to which CPU is less loaded,
  • font smoothing,
  • problem with performance of translucent pictures' drawing disappeared.
• We added new tab in configuration General » Appearance » Rendering where you can choose the method of rendering and specify additional options.
• Minor error related to translucency animation of Paseczek window, has been fixed.
• Because of a Windows 7 64bit bug, Paseczek sometimes cannot handle the mouse wheel. As a result, the content of Paseczek was disappearing. Now, the content of Paseczek does not disappear, but unfortunately nothing else happens... despite of showing short info.
• We added new method of rendering: Direct2D. For now, it can be run only by starting Paseczek with the -renderingMethod 2d2 parameter. It is because we have to add much more optimization in order to reduce the load of CPU.

We added possibility to choose rendering method. It is possible from the command line level temporarily. In order to choose other than default rendering method start Paseczek with following parameters:

• Direct3D - C:\Program Files\Paseczek\Paseczek.exe -renderingMethod d3d
• GDI - C:\Program Files\Paseczek\Paseczek.exe -renderingMethod gdi
• DrirectDraw - C:\Program Files\Paseczek\Paseczek.exe -renderingMethod ddraw

We experiment with many methods because of Window 7 CPU overload. What at Windows XP takes 0-2% CPU, at Windows 7 can take even a dozen or so percent! For the time being - no success. Recently added method based on DirectDraw turned out that is worse than GDI. Next technology to try is Direct2D.

At Windows 7 the default rendering method is Direct3D. It is because only in this way we succeeded in getting fluent animation. It looks that Windows 7 (DWM precisely) does not run in real time - that is why both GDI and DirectDraw methods are not able to provide smooth animation.
